Since the movement was established in 1912, Girl Scouts of the USA has released new uniforms about every 10 years. But a new uniform does not require a shopping spree. Older uniforms are always proper attire—once a uniform, always a uniform.
The GSUSA National Historic Preservation Center prepared detailed inventory sheets for each uniform. Council historians used these complex forms to track their own collection.
Unfortunately, these invaluable reference documents have not been officially updated in a decade. Even worse, they are no longer accessible online.
Instead of waiting for official documents, council historians across the country have valiantly tried to create their own sheets for newer uniforms, but there has been little opportunity to share or standardize the content.
This website is an effort to bridge that gap. Uniforms are grouped by program level, with links to the associated inventory sheet. Currently these documents are a mix of PDF and DOC files, but that format will be standardized at some point in the future.
This site is intended to be a temporary home, making a valuable resource available at no cost to users. We hope to turn the files over to the GSUSA National Historic Preservation Center in the future.
